I love the digital photography world! But my passion for photography and instructing goes back to 1990 when I purchased my first camera. I love the digital photography world! But my passion for photography and instructing goes back to 1990 when I purchased my first camera. I began shooting weddings and landscapes a year later and switched to digital images in 2001. I’ve been an instructor at Microsoft and Nintendo, helping employees of various skill levels gain the knowledge they need.

Having used Lightroom since it first came out in 2007, I enjoy how it can make photography more simple and expand possibilities. I excel at helping clients like you understand how the catalog works, how best to filter through the tons of images we all take and tips to keep sane through the process.

I teach my own photography workshops in Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland and other West Coast location and have been doing so since 2011. In that time I’ve worked with over 100 clients on a one-on-one basis while also authoring well over 350 photography posts on Digital Photography School, a leading photography blog. I also lead photography tours to Nepal and Bhutan.

Basically, I love photography and helping others learn the joy of the craft. Whether for income or enjoyment, I would be happy to help you expand your knowledge.

I have been using Adobe Lightroom since version 1 came out in 2007. Before that I suffered along with basic programs and folders to organize my images. I know what it’s like to be clueless about where to start and I have patience to help others get the most out of the program.

My catalog now contains over 290,000 images and I can find almost any subject quickly and efficiently. I’ve grown with the program and it is an indispensable part of my workflow.

I have shot weddings and landscapes since 1991, with over 150 ceremonies completed to date. I shoot a variety of subjects and professional get paid to shoot weddings, portraits, commercial and residential real estate, products, headshots, travel and drone imagery.

My work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Audubon, Alaska Airlines Magazine and many other publications. I have worked with clients completely new to photography and digital cameras on up to advanced students in the remote areas of Nepal, India, Bhutan, Costa Rica, Panama and more.

The first thing I want to do is listen to you and understand where you’re coming from and where you want to go. That’s more important to me than all the knowledge in my head, because I have to understand not only what you want to learn but how best you learn. Your time is important to you and I want to give you the best bang for your buck.

I started in photography during the days of film, experimenting in the darkroom while honing my skills. In 2001 I went digital and have loved how it opens up possibilities and results for any style of photography. I have a laid-back style of teaching and I take the time to really understand what my students want and how best to help them learn before proceeding.

Found missing images...moved catalog and library from external drives to my new iMac...explained how collections work. He’s knowledgeable, stays on task, and got done what I needed. I will call on him again when I get stuck.
