About Brianna

I am a recent University of California, Santa Cruz graduate who enjoys black coffee, multi-colored highlighters, and good conversations. I'm easy to get along with, and uncomplicated in my explanation of complex, challenging materials. I am here to help you and make sure you succeed! I see the value in education and the indispensable power in learning, but I know how difficult retaining information and understanding assignments can be. I have a year of teaching/instructing experience, for during my senior year of college I taught a five unit, university- level class entitled: Intro to Radio. I was tasked with creating a syllabus and redesigning PowerPoints, exams, assignments, and lesson plans. I have valuable experience not only teaching three separate classes of fourteen students for an entire school year but also, I've mentored five new live DJs; programmed 200 hours of live radio; and assisted students during office hours and one-on-one study sessions. I love helping students and seeing people succeed, and I know I can help you reach your full academic potential!

I have always excelled on the English, Grammar, and Writing arenas of academia. Words and prose are my life force and my constant; I am constantly reading and writing–curating and creating knowledge. In high school, I was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper for two years. In charge of the monthly publication of a tangible, eight page newspaper, I was tasked with the greatest and most critical copy editing and grammar checking. I am certain that I this experience solidified and improved my love of the written word. In college, I majored in two reading/writing intensive majors, often writing up to 30 three to eight page papers each academic quarter, as well as two twenty page graduate-level theses. I hold strong English and grammar skills that I can easily explain and condense into simple terms. I promise to help you improve your writing and help you succeed!

I am an art and visual culture enthusiast. I hold a degree in the History of Art and Visual Culture from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and I hold extensive academic training in visual analysis, psychoanalytic art theory, and color/form theory. Aside from technicalities, I enjoy and hold academic an academic sensibility of the visual manifestation of cultures of: Oceania & its diaspora, Asia & its diaspora, Africa & its diaspora, Native Americas, Europe and the Americas, and the Mediterranean. I also am extensively familiar with contemporary art's movements, key figures, and political interventions, including those in the arenas of: Cubism, Abstract Expressionism, Dadaism, Pop Art, Surrealism, Conceptual Art, and Digital Art. I've also been trained in: Medieval, Gothic, Renaissance, Impressionist, and Post-Impressionist art. I am here to help you view art in new and exciting ways!
