I want to continue this effort and give back as tutor to other students who are facing a similar situation.
I have spent the past two years tutoring elementary school reading and literature and Spanish in my high school, having gained a multitude of skills in working with students of all ages and proficiency levels. In order to help a student succeed, I design lesson plans to first identify a student's strengths and weaknesses so that I am able to cater to their individual needs as well as provide them any answers to their questions. I use a number of different resources and materials in order to teach a lesson and will also assign homework to a student as needed.
I spent a great deal of time studying for the ACT, which has given me a well informed understanding of the strategies and techniques needed to succeed on this standardized test. I took the test only once and received a 35, and as a result, I have compiled streamlined strategies to tackle different questions and topics within these sections that I would like to give to other students.
Chemistry has always been my favorite subject and I was always eager to advance in this subject as quickly as possible. I spent my freshman summer learning high school chemistry under two months, so I know how to effectively communicate these concepts within a compressed amount of time. Additionally, I took AP Chemistry my sophomore year, receiving a 5 on the exam. I have furthered my love of science through lab internships and COSMOS, a science program. I want to share my passion for chemistry with young students who need some additional help to succeed.
