In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a DHL- doctorate Hebrew Literature- degree from the JTS in New York.
I lecture on Biblical figures and stories and the way they are portrayed in Modern Hebrew Literature.
I am a poet and a writer and much of my work has to do with Biblical themes.
I am Israeli born, USA and Israel educated, and currently living in the Bay Area. I am an expert on teaching Hebrew as a second and first language as well as Hebrew Literature and Israeli culture.
I wrote textbooks, trained teachers, designed curriculum, served as a consultant, headed the Hebrew department at Ramaz School in NY (years ago) and at Neve Scheter in Jerusalem. I taught at the JTS in NY and at David Yellin School Education in Jerusalem, Israel. I also served as head of Literacy in the Jerusalem District of the Israeli Ministry of education.
Besides my work in Israel and the USA in teaching HSL and Hebrew Literature, I also wrote and implemented the HSL curriculum in the Tarbut School in Mexico, the Herzlia schools in South Africa, and Carmel College in England.
I authored and co-authored books and numerous articles and presented papers in the aforementioned areas. I am also a poet and an artist. I published one book of poetry and many of my poems in Hebrew and in English appear in anthologies and online.
I am an experienced public speaker:
1. I have been lecturing for the last 40 years on college and university level.
2. I have participated in numerous conferences all over the world and presented numerous papers.
3. I have given numerous public lectures at Haddassa, B'nei Brith ,Wizo,and a few JCC's.
4. For years I used to speak in different programs on the Israeli radio.
5. I gave numerous workshops and seminars in marketing, change management and creativity to executives and professionals.
I have a BA in English Language and Literature, a Master's degree in TESOL from Hunter College.
I taught students 5th-12th grade for 9 years.
For more than 30 years I have been teaching in colleges and universities.
I have been instrumental in tutoring students from all ages in time management, reading and writing including academic papers.
