I spent six years pursuing a love for my little ones in Early Childhood Education and eventually graduated to the big leagues. Over the next 15 years I stepped into various classrooms ranging from Kindergarten to Middle School and continued my education to obtain a California Teaching Credential in Elementary Education.
Throughout my career I have worked in various types of school settings with a wide range of learners. Public schools, private schools, charter schools... ESL Students, Students with learning "differences", Advanced Students, Students from all types of backgrounds....and what I have found is that all students have the ability to learn, the ability to succeed and the right to be able to find out how they best acquire the knowledge they need to become, not only successful in school but to become life long learners who succeed, excel and be confident in life.
I believe that working with students one on one enables me to accomplish this more effectively than I could in a classroom setting. We are all unique, we are all gifted and it is most often easier to recognizing an individual's strengths when you are face to face. I look forward to seeing new faces, learning about what you find amazing in your life and finding strengths you may not know even existed! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
