Hi - I'm Chad! I graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor's degree in Film and Media Studies and a concentration in Business Management. I am a screenwriter, author, and producer, with experience tutoring students of all ages in a variety of subjects in English and art, including but not limited to grammar, the academic essay, literature, reading comprehension, creative writing, screenwriting, playwriting, film and video production, editing, and Photoshop.
In high school I took an intensive English grammar and analytical essay workshop, and afterwards was selected to tutor my peers in essay writing and grammar. I worked directly with students 1 on 1 twice a week to assist with outlining and proofreading academic and college essays, as well as assigning grammar exercises to improve error detection and develop an eye for structure and word flow.
Aside from my background and experience in academic writing settings, I currently work as a professional screenwriter and content developer, and have helped individuals of all ages with film and video production, screenwriting, creative writing, and art work primarily on Adobe products (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere).
I believe that it's critical for a tutor to be engaging and comprehensible, and that means striking a balance between creativity and discipline. I come to sessions prepared with structured methods and rules, but I also believe that writing and art are not subjects that should be confined to harsh guidelines. My goal is to encourage every one of my students to build incredible structures with a newfound voice and passion for writing, built upon a sturdy foundation of grammatical principles and helpful approaches.
In addition to an extensive background of coursework, teaching, and success in writing, I have an unwavering passion for the subject. There hasn't been a day in the last decade that I have not sat down and written even a few hundred words, or read a few pages of a novel. I believe that almost any work of literature can provoke awe
