Indiana University (Theatre and Drama)
I have 5 plus years teaching experience with adults and children 0-18. I've worked as a teacher for Gymboree, SF Shakespeare Festival, Berkeley Playhouse, and as a private tutor and teacher of French, singing, and guitar. I've also nannied for many families, so my teaching and tutoring style is infused with fun, play, warmth, comfort, and ease. I've been playing guitar for three years, singing for my entire life, and speaking French since I was 10.
I love teaching because I love helping people learn and become their best selves. There's nothing better than watching a student struggle with a concept and experience a breakthrough - it's the best! Plus, I'm very passionate about all three subjects I tutor, so being able to frequently live in those mediums is so rewarding and fun for me.
In terms of French, I have a fun, relaxed teaching style and can help you with accent reduction, conversational fluency, grammar, and cultural understanding. As for singing and guitar, I'm well-versed in all styles of music and can arm you with excellent vocal and acoustic technique. Songwriting, ear training, music theory, vocal performance, self-accompaniment, solo-ing, and strumming are my specialties.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a certificate of French merit in 2005 and 2006, and I'm fluent in the language. I specialize in grammar, conversation, spelling, vocabulary, accent reduction, and French culture. I've been speaking and learning French since I was 10, so I have over 15 years of experience in the language. (I also still take lessons myself to keep up my conversation, writing, and reading skills.) I can help make sense of all of those accents, random verb tenses, and rules that just don't make sense.
I've been playing acoustic guitar for three years and specialize in pick and strumming technique, self-accompaniment, songwriting, harmony, composition, sight singing, and solos.
I'm very versatile in all types of music but especially in folk, rock, blues, country, soul and pop. I can teach students how to structure a really solid song and pepper it with beautiful lyrics, harmonies, and melodic lines.
Also, I can teach how to properly hold, play, and strum an acoustic guitar. My pick and strumming technique are fabulous, and I can teach you how to successfully accompany yourself and solo. (If the student is interested, I can go in depth with rhythm, ear, harmonic, and melodic training as well.)
My teaching method is one of warmth, patience, passion, fun, and dedication. I can easily find a student's trouble spots and help them ameliorate their weaknesses.
I have been singing and actively studying private voice since age 12, while teaching voice for the past five years.
I teach a combination of speech level singing (made famous by Seth Riggs), singing on the voice, Bel Canto, and classical technique. I can teach you how to sing on pitch and breathe fully and with control.
Most importantly, I'm very firm on healthy singing, meaning I'll teach you how to develop a strong chest, mix, belt, and head voice. I can assist you in making the transitions between all parts of your voice smooth and effortless - again, with full breath support and excellent tone.
I have experience in and a love for all styles of music, especially pop, r&b, soul, country, jazz, musical theatre, classical, folk, and rock. I have endless songbooks from which I can pull to help you sing fluidly.
