My name is Steve S. I was a Spanish and English grammar teacher for 32 years primarily at Manteca High School in Manteca, CA. I taught Spanish on a part-time basis for 16 years at Delta College in Stockton, CA. I taught Medical Spanish for the University of the Pacific and for CSU Stanislaus in Stockton, CA, for 1 year. I have also tutored Spanish to high school students and adults for about 14 years and have been teaching Spanish for 4 years part-time for Connecting Waters Charter School in Modesto, in Manteca, and in Stockton since 2012.
My method of relating to everyone is that everyone deserves to be heard and to be respected. Your questions deserve to be answered fully. Whatever your particular focus for the days that we meet, it is with the understanding that I am there to help you understand the material. If you have quizzes, tests, and/or projects, I am there to help you with these kinds of assignments as well.
Above and beyond our tutoring sessions, I am available for any questions you may have. Also, if you have assignments you wish me to review and/or have questions about your upcoming quizzes, tests, and projects, you can email me through the WyzAnt email account. Under these circumstances, it is important for you to call or text me so that I know you wish me to review what you have written or typed and by when. If you have an immediate need to contact me, you can call or text me. If I am available, I will answer you immediately. If I am unable to reply when you contact me, I will reply as quickly as I can, usually within an hour.
Your objectives are to understand Spanish better, to be able to use Spanish appropriately, and to earn higher grades, if you are in school. I am here to help you achieve your objectives.

Steve is very effective in communicating with my son. He shows genuine concern and very considerate of a young boy's heart. My son seems to open up to him very fast. Steve then teaches with high efficiency. He is a dream teacher!!!
My son loved this tutor! Steve was very patient, consistent, and communicative. My son is normally a really shy guy but he opened up with Steve. My son said that Steve made a really big difference in his understanding of practice in a really short time. We will use him again.
I just had a trial lesson ws Steve. Found him quite experienced, well prepared and patient tutor who was well prepared in advance. Hope to learn basics of Spanish as soon as possible.
Steve assessed our son's knowledge/retention from Spanish 1 and made recommendations for future sessions. We're confident and excited to have Steve's support as a tutor!
I learned more with Steve in 1 hour than I've learned all semester so far from my teacher. He's great.
My daughters are 8 and 9 and had their first Spanish lesson today. Steve worked well with them. His lesson was appropriate for their ages.
Mister Steve is very pleasant and an authority on the subject matter HS Spanish 2. I learned a lot because we covered a lot of material in the textbook. I'm looking forward to having more lessons with him.
Steve is an excellent tutor! We are so fortunate to have Steve to help my son with his Spanish. Steve is consistently very helpful, thoughtful and very professional in all the tutoring sessions. He has definitely earned our highest recommendation!
Our daughter was struggling with Spanish 2, but with Steve's help, she is seeing improvement in her grades and has a more positive attitude about the subject. Thank you, Steve!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
