About Ateeq

I am currently a Stanford PhD student in Mechanical Engineering working on developing the next generation of MEMS technologies for sure is biomedical fields. My GPA at Stanford is 3.9 and my GPA in my undergraduate was also 3.95 along with graduating top of my college and Summa Cum Laude. I also graduated top of my high school. I have substantial experience tutoring a wide range of subjects in Mathematics, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Accounting, Business, Economics and English. I have done so at college, high school and middle school level. At Stanford I continue to tutor students through the various offices around campus in such subjects.

I am pursuing a PhD so that one day I can teach classes at a college level. I developed my abilities to communicate effectively from a very young age and have applied it in many aspects, but teaching is by far my favorite way of communication. Before starting my college I worked at a private school for one year where I was a tutor for high school mathematics and biology. My goal as a tutor is to enable students to overcome challenges in their academic work while sharing my passion for subjects that I have grown to love. When a student brings me a problem that he/she is struggling with, I first try to understand the root cause of the difficulty. If he/she doesn't understand a fundamental concept, I explain the principle, giving weight to why it holds and providing examples that the student can relate to. I think this is crucial because memorizing formulas or facts is not real learning. To fully understand a concept, a student needs to appreciate how it follows from and relates to other concepts he/she already understands. Learning, in my opinion, is the ability to develop intuition about a topic and be able to apply it both within and outside of academics.

I am very flexible with time and have a car, so I can travel to you.

I am new to this website and am excited to find lots of more tutoring and teaching opportunities :-)

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am an advanced student of engineering, and use algebra 1 concepts on a daily basis as part of my work. Additionally, I have tutored in the last year prealgebra, geometry, algebra, and calculus for students in grades 6-12.

Geometry

I am currently pursuing an PhD degree in mechanical engineering, which involves applying advanced concepts of geometry on a regular basis. I have also worked with high school and college level students on geometry, algebra, and calculus in the past.
