CSU Monterey Bay (Human Communications)
National University (Enrolled)
I am currently a student at National University working on my Masters in Education and working as an intern English teacher for a local high school.
I love teaching! I love helping students grasp an idea that they thought at first was unreachable. I enjoy altering lessons for different students so that they can all succeed. I put a lot of time into each and every student to male sure they are getting what they need from me as a teacher. I've tutored off and on since high school, substitute taught for about 3 years and have been employed by PUSD as the teacher of record since last school year.
Although my work is focused on Secondary Education I am also a mother and I enjoy working with younger children. I am very familiar with Common Core and can help your child transition to the new standards.
My courses at CSU Monterey Bay were mostly English, Speech and History courses.
I will be receiving my Single Subject in English Credential December of this year which will make me highly qualified as an English Teacher.
I believe every student can succeed if given the opportunity. I am currently a student at National University working on my Masters in Education and working as an intern English teacher for a local high school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I passed the CBEST test about 2009 and scored well in all sections. I have also substitute taught for 3 years. I am currently an English teacher in a secondary school.
All of my educational training has been with the Common Core Standards and not the old Content Standards. I have taught the standards for the last 1.5 years in my school district and am familiar with the goals and outcomes.
I am currently a secondary teacher for English. I am familiar with the standards expected from the students. I have taken courses on teaching strategies that can be applied to all grade levels. I also have teaching experience with students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I believe that learning should be fun for students and all students can learn. Sometimes it just takes that extra time to figure out what kind of strategies to use for the student to give them that "a-ha" moment.
