Hi! I am experienced teacher and tutor on the peninsula. I have tutored and/or taught students from all grade levels from Kindergarten through eighth grade! Right now I am teaching part time so that I can spend more time with my own children. This allows me to be a bit more flexible with my tutoring availability.
When I was in college, one of the many jobs I had was tutoring. I worked with my peers in classes that they struggled in, and I also worked with some middle school students. More recently, I tutored a student in third and fourth grade.
Something that is important to know is that even though I am not teaching full time right now, I have attended the trainings my district is providing for the Common Core State Standards.
I truly enjoy working with kids, especially when I can connect with them in a small group or one-on-one. I feel that it is important to get to know those that I work with and learn about them, because that will tell me how they learn best. Though it takes some time initially, it helps to narrow the focus of what is needed and how to get there.
I enjoy helping students grasp the idea that they can achieve and be successful, and helping them to see their true potential. I love the journey that gives way to the growth a student has as they reach their goals.
The implementation of Common Core State Standards has changed the way math is taught for the better. I am up to date on the trainings my district is providing to teachers on this shift. I am a strong source of support and guidance.
I taught English/Language Arts for five years at the middle school level.
I have experience tutoring and/or teaching students at all levels of K-6th grade. This has allowed me to see what important skills are needed in each grade as well as concepts and skills that need to be mastered from one grade to the next.
Currently, the position I am working in is to teach ESL (English as a Second Language) to English Learners. I received training on an excellent program that has enhanced the progress my students have made.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. I work hard to help students succeed. Hard work and determination are important tools and are necessary to achieve success. Hi! Caroline is a talented tutor who really cares about the students. In an hour, she got to know my son and guided him in writing an essay draft. My son is looking forward to working with her more.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
