About KENNY DUBB

Born, Kenneth G. W. II on December 13th, 1984, Dubb began writing simple computer games during the sixth grade when his father introduced him to the programming code QBasic. He soon progressed to C++ programming language. Dubb eventually wanted to add original music to his games and found that he preferred composing songs more than programming. In the eighth grade, he began studying music.

Kenny joined the U.S. Air Force in 2003 and was sent to Camp Darby in Livorno, Italy. In 2004, he took first place in a base talent show for performing original music. By late 2005, Kenny formed a working relationship with Italian engineer Maurizio Sera. From 2007 to 2009, Dubb was stationed in Japan and produced hip-hop for local acts. His artist routinely opened for major American acts that performed in Tokyo and Okinawa, including: Game, E-40, Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris and others. In 2010, Kenny and a fellow entrepreneur founded a production label. Kenny now resides in Los Angeles and produces music independently. His influences include; Bob Marley, Dr. Dre, No I.D, and Pete Rock.

Kenny Dubb grew up in the mid-1990's and was influenced by the super-producer culture in hip-hop. He learned the importance of having a signature sound and developing brand integrity. In 2003, he bought his first drum machine, a BOSS Dr-5. Today, Dubb produces music mostly with samplers, synthesizers, and Pro Tools.

Kenny was enlisted in the Air Force from 2003-2013 and worked in the munitions career field. During this time he served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom while earning the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Award among others. Within four years, Kenny was advanced to munitions inspector. Kenny rose to the rank of staff sergeant and completed his military service after 10 years.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Music History

Being a music producer, my career is dependent on having a wide knowledge of music history that spans all genres. In the current era of popular music, most of the successful songs are mere remakes and interpolations of songs from the past. I spend many hours studying and revisiting records of old. Music producers like myself use historic albums to aid in the writing process.

Music Production

I began the path of commercial music production during my off-duty hours and in between deployments while enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. In 2004, I won first place in a base talent show for performing original music. This led to a work-for-hire situation between a local record label and myself. They produced dance music and paid me to rap on their songs. By late 2005, I had formed a working relationship with an Italian engineer by the name of Maurizio Sera. From 2007 to 2009, I was stationed in Japan and produced hip-hop for local acts. My artist routinely opened for major American acts that performed in Tokyo and Okinawa to include; Game, E-40, Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris and others. In 2010, fellow entrepreneur, Kenjuan Simon, and myself founded our production label.
