“**Great tutor and easy to work with**”

I have been tutoring all levels of Math for the past 10 years, from Algebra through college Calculus. I believe that establishing a good foundation in Mathematics is critical for a student’s future success and confidence – in high school, in college and beyond in their careers. And I believe every student has the potential to be successful with

Tim helped my daughter study for the ACT test. While my daughter does well in Math and Science, Tim has helped her believe in herself to the point of going for a perfect score! That would be awesome! Thanks Tim for your support, encouragement, and help. This has been a great experience for my daughter. She now knows what it takes to be a great tutor!

Great follow up with written notes the day after the lesson. He's helping my daughter pass a junior-senior level course when she is only a freshman. Because Tim knows so much in so many subjects, you can book an hour and he can help your student with multiple classes depending on their weekly needs. I would recommend Tim to any student.

Can't stress enough how appreciative I am that Tim is so patient. He has helped me a lot on my preparation for the GRE, and has helped me a lot in becoming more confident in my math skills.

My son is a high school junior and needed to prepare for the SAT Math II. This was very challenging, with a short time to prepare. Although we're still waiting for the results, my son took the test confidently. Another result of the 8 weeks of tutoring with Tim, he was able to bring his Pre-Calc grade up from a B to a final A!

Tim has been tutoring my son since October in pre-calc and trigonometry. His grades went from C to a solid B+, and possibly A by the end of the school year. Tim will also be providing SAT prep this coming weeks. Since Tim started his sessions with my son, I have seen significant improvement in my son's attitude. He shared with me how much Tim has been helping him learn to learn, not just how to answer the questions but also how to develop his critical thinking skills. Most of all, he feels that Tim has been maximizing his learning preferences, which makes his sessions more productive.

This is my first experience with hiring a tutor for my son, and I am more than pleased with the results. Tim is not only a great teacher, he is also very professional. He is prompt and efficient. I really appreciate his dedication to teaching, his compassion for the student's struggles, and his ability to flex his style to make learning an enjoyable process.

Needed to pass a college placement test for Math, Almost completely relearned Algebra 2 from Tim in about 3 weeks and passed the placement test with flying colors. Great Tutor!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I equip my students with strategy so they learn how to quickly tackle the different kinds of questions typically seen on ACT Math. I provide tools that work from techniques for multiple choice questions, to methods for translating equations to graphs and vice-versa, to creative ways to tackle word problems.

For many, Algebra I & II is where the struggles begin. But it need not be scary and difficult. Often times the issue is with earlier concepts that were not mastered with confidence. I will help by explaining concepts in plain English. And I help students to learn to see concepts and problems in a way that makes sense to them.

American history is one of my favorite subjects. My family has deep roots in the history of our country going back to colonial times and extending out to homesteading in the Midwest and to the Gold Rush days of California. I grew up hearing stories from these different time periods. I love to share that perspective with my students as we establish ways to know and remember history. I also offer experience preparing students for the AP US History exam.

Everyone can learn Calculus. It’s a great tool and a big confidence booster when you can master this subject. The concepts behind Calculus are actually simple and few in number. But they are often introduced in ways that seem complex and confusing. I will help explain the concepts and terms in simple English and with everyday examples.

One of my former students was preparing for the CSET (California Subject Examinations for Teachers). I helped her, especially with the math section, so that she successfully passed her exam in July 2013. In so doing, I helped her overcome a long-term condition of dyscalculia.

I am a native English speaker, but having lived abroad for over 10 years and having traveled for work extensively, I learned to speak English in a clear, proper and enunciated manner -- so that I could be better understood. This experience guides and inspires my efforts to help others who are learning English/ ESL.

In a sense, Geometry is misnamed. On the surface, it appears to be focused on angles, lines, polygons, circles and arcs and how they relate. But at the heart of the subject is a Greek system of logic. Understanding this and how it works is the key to mastering Geometry.

I am a long-time Apple fan and familiar with the full range of Apple products. They are beautifully designed tools that are very intuitive to learn.

I also have experience tutoring Seniors to master the basics so that they feel comfortable to enjoy the great options and access to applications that Mac products offer - from useful Apps, iPhoto and iTunes to the range of Microsoft products for Macs.

This is the foundation for advanced Math. Building confidence in the concepts introduced here and the ways to express them is critical.

Understanding Precalculus and Trig concepts need not be daunting. They can be explained in simple terms and there are ways to remember key concepts. This can be a fun subject when the student has confidence about the basics.

Besides studying World History on the side at university and then doing my own study and reading ever since, I have experienced first hand the "living history" that one can pick up by traveling, exploring and talking with and living with local people. In the course of my work, I have traveled to over 30 countries - in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, and have lived in four of them for cumulative nearly 10 years. I have also tutored for the AP World History Exam as well as for courses in pre- and post-1600 World History.
