As a former teacher and elementary school principal, I take learning very seriously. I believe ALL children can be successful in school when given the right tools and support.
I begin my work with each new client with a comprehensive assessment which takes into account your child's academic proficiency, learning style, motivation style, and attitude towards school and learning.
My students all look forward to their tutoring sessions with me, because they feel successful. I believe in employing alternative teaching methods to ensure the success of every student, and I always remember that learning should be FUN!
Although my teaching experience was with elementary students, tutoring older kids has made me aware of the challenges faced by many in secondary math classes. I have worked one-on-one with students in all of these subject areas and have incorporated real-world learning experiences to help answer the age-old question: "Why do I have to know this?"
I have extensive training in the teaching of literacy and specialize in helping struggling readers. Through my former school district's work with Teacher's College of Columbia University, I am able to apply the concepts of their Reading and Writing Project, focusing on authentic learning experiences and creating lifelong readers and writers.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your students reach new academic heights! As a former teacher and elementary school principal, I take learning very seriously. I believe ALL children can be successful in school when given the right tools and support.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
