In-person lessons

We tried several different tutors for our high school Son. Saundra was a perfect fit and he liked her! His grade has gone from a D- to a B in just a quarter of school. We would highly recommend Saundra!

She has totally organized my daughter's backpack so everything is in order. That is the best thing for us.

Saundra is always patient and accommodating to our schedule. She is professional and has really helped my daughter with math and prep for SATs.

My high schooler had her first session with Saundra yesterday and was VERY pleased with the tutoring. Sandy showed her some shortcuts and was extremely knowledgeable in the area of pre-calculus. My daughter will continue to see Sandy on a regular basis!

Math:

ACT Math,
Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I worked at Sylvan and help students with ACT and other test preparations. When I worked at the high school, I helped students prepare for these tests as well.

I have a Mathematics degree. I have been teaching a tutoring algebra for eleven years. I enjoy the subject. Algebra is one of my favorites to teach.

I have a Math Degree from Cal State Northridge and taught Algebra I , Geometry, Algebra II, Trig, and Calculus for eleven years. I enjoy Math and teaching math to others.

I worked at Sylvan tutoring center for a few years working with elementary students. I worked with students on language arts, English Skills, Math, Phonics, and Science. Working at Sylvan I worked with several different school curriculum's in the area of Thousand oaks, Simi valley, and Newberry Park.

I worked at Sylvan. I worked with students with their Math skills. I learned a lot about the curriculum that the schools in the Thousand oaks, Simi Valley, and surrounding areas were teaching to their students.

I was a lead teacher in Geometry. Again, one of my favorite subjects to teach. I have alot of experience with this subject and know that the new common core that California is placing on this subject is going to change how it is taught. I have that knowledge with the I.B. program that I am trained in.

I have taught English grades 7-12. I have also tutored students in English both in elementary and secondary levels. Grammar is always a big part of the process of writing and it causes a lot of trouble with students, with the different rules and exceptions to the rules. I have lots of experience with this process and can help students better understand grammar in the English language.

Literature is one of my favorite topics. I love to read, and I encourage reading at least 20 minutes a day. When I taught English, I would encourage students to understand the meaning of the literature; why it was written, the time period it was written in, the characters' importance, etc. When tutoring literature, I would use the same process.

I have a degree in Mathematics. I have taught I.B. Calculus, Algebra II, Trig, AP Statistics, and other Math related subjects for eleven years. The new curriculum for geometry incorporates logic into the subject and I have tutored students successfully.

Prealgebra is one of the most important subjects for students starting to grasp more complex ideas in mathematics. With my degree and experience in mathematics, I can help them understand the material and connect with ideas. The main focus is for the student is to understand these concepts and not memorize them.

This subject is a big stepping stone to calculus. The student needs to understand, and have a good background in the concepts in order to continue on to the next step in their studies of mathematics. With my degree in mathematics and teaching experience, I can help students grasp these concepts for their next step.

Probability is now a topic in all levels of math. You will notice this subject taught in grades k-12 at some level. With my Mathematics degree and my teaching experience, I can help students understand the different levels and techniques of probability.

Reading is an important process for all levels k-12. Reading helps to increase our vocabulary, sentence structure, and writing skills. With my teaching experience with Read 180 and my tutoring experience with an area learning center, I can help students read. Using phonics, comprehension tools, and other devices to help students read, I can help students achieve grade-level reading skills.

I tutored for Sylvan and would help student with the SAT portion of the Math. I would help the students with skills needed to pass these tests and help them to read identify what the questions where asking help them better answer the questions successfully.

I taught Trigonometry for many years. It is a great subject that relies on the trigonometric functions. I use the unit circle throughout my teaching and tutoring for this subject which I feel is a key element in understanding Trig. A good grasp of the Trig Identities is also another focus that is recommended for this subject for tutoring and teaching too.
