Hello everyone! My name is Michaela and I am a student at Barnard College at Columbia University, studying English and Dance at Barnard's world-renowned, selective English Department, as well as its conservatory-level Dance Department.

I have worked as a dance teacher for four years, following a rigorous Vaganova ballet curriculum for young dancers. At Barnard and Columbia, I have extensive experience in dance instruction and choreography, specializing in adapting choreography for non-dancers. My approach to teaching emphasizes straightforward instruction, yet is catalyzed by inclusion, empathy, and understanding.

I also have extensive experience as a volunteer English and French tutor. Last summer, I served as an intern for Writopia Lab Los Angeles, a tutoring center dedicated to promoting students' excellence in writing. My work focused on building strong, riveting stories, as well as crafting informative and persuasive essays. I also have tutored students in French at Los Angeles Valley College and have coached other college students on literary French essays.

I have been studying French since age five and can speak and write French at a proficient level. I will help students perfect introductory French grammar (preferably first- or second-year), as well as French literary writing and comprehension. I have surpassed all grammatical levels of French at high school and college levels and have experience reading Old French texts, able to aid in dissecting the complicated linguistic patterns and spellings of early French literature. As my French immersion has yielded to native-sounding French speaking, I can also help students perfect their French accent, aiding in fluency and linguistic confidence!

I am an English Major at Barnard College at Columbia University, able to impart Ivy League-level instruction on essays, applications, and works of creative writing! My academic essays have received worldwide recognition on Barnard websites and my poetry and personal narratives were chosen for the Barnard Creat

Wonderful! Everything we were looking for!

Michaela thinks outside the box in the beat of ways. She is energetic and enthusiastic! She gets my 8 year old’s mind working and is teaching her in ways I never would’ve thought to. She’s definitely been the highlight of my kid’s day during this pandemic. So glad we found her. 😊

Our 11-year-old daughter has loved her first two sessions with Michaela and is looking forward to more. Michaela has been virtually teaching her dance and choreography in a way that is completely tailored for her personal goals and style. I can't recommend Michaela more highly!
