As a communications major at James Madison University in Virginia, I studied screenwriting, creative writing, and journalism. Additionally I have a minor in vocal music, and have spent the last 20 years both teaching/tutoring, writing screenplays and traveling the world performing in musical theatre productions. Writing has always been my strong suit as I have received various awards and honors throughout my school years for essays submitted, and grade point averages achieved.
In addition to the above, I have much experience as a comic actor having both studied and performed with the renowned Second City Improv in NYC. I consider it a joy and privilege to help in the discovery of one's writing skills and look forward to helping you or your child to unleash talents and to grow as writers and artists. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Having worked in theatre, creative writing is my specialty. In addition to essay writing, and published articles, I studied screenwriting and have written several spec screenplays and successfully produced plays. As an actor I have a strong background in comedy which has aided in making tutoring sessions engaging and fun. Finally, I believe in positive reinforcement which has led to students feeling better about their abilities and opened doors to beautiful writing.
I have been teaching piano lessons for 15 years in between touring with musical theatre productions.
