Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I conduct study courses for ACT and SAT at my learning center through private tutoring sessions as well as small group instruction. I also privately tutor in the family home.

ADHD

I own and operate my own learning center where I teach study skills to students of all ages. I focus on organization, research and time management skills. Together, we organize the student's binders, work space, and develop calendars to assist with completing work and meeting deadlines. I have worked with students with ADD/ADHD and have developed strategies that maximize each student's achievement. School teachers as well as a UCLA genetic study on ADD/ADHD refer students with learning differences to me.

Art History

I can teach several levels of Art History. A series of Art History classes were required as a part of my undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. I also have taught several years of US, World, and Ancient History classes which included art as a theme throughout each text.

CBEST

I have successfully coached multiple adult students entering the education profession having difficulty passing the math section of the CBEST.

Drawing

I have a degree in fine arts and am able to teach beginning to intermediate drawing and illustration. I don't feel comfortable teaching advance drawing. I can also teach beginning perspective and drafting.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a valid California teaching credential.

ISEE

I have tutored for the ISEE in the past as well as for the Catholic High Schools entrance exams. I would have to review, but it's not a problem. I own several up to date study guides.

Logic

I excelled in college logic and easily tutor the logic section in geometry. I would need to prepare for intermediate and advanced logic tutoring to bring myself up to date.

Painting

I have a BA in Fine Arts and my specialty areas were graphic design and painting. I can teach color theory, perspective, and I have an extensive knowledge about the great master painters.

Phonics

I taught elementary school for 12 years majority of which were in kindergarten and first grade. I can teach phonics to beginning readers and struggling older readers.

SAT Math

I conduct study courses for ACT and SAT at my learning center through private tutoring sessions as well as small group instruction. I also privately tutor in the family home.

Math is my area of expertise. I have extensive training and experience teaching students with different learning styles.

Special Needs

I have been working with students with special needs as a mainstream teacher in public schools, within my private practice/learning center, and I am halfway finished with my Masters in Special Education.

Study Skills

I own and operate my own learning center where I teach study skills to students of all ages. I focus on organization, research and time management skills. Together, we organize the student's binders, work space, and develop calendars to assist with completing work and meeting deadlines. I have worked with students with ADD/ADHD and have developed strategies that maximize each student's achievement.
