I have been a teacher for twenty years. Before I became a teacher I was a computer programmer (systems analyst). I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Economics. After my children were born I went back to school to become a Waldorf teacher. My family moved to England where I was lucky to go to teacher training and do my practice teaching in Europe.
I tutor most all subjects including math, test preparation and reading. I currently tutor students of all ages, from 2nd grade to college age and sometimes adults. My favorite subject is math. My favorite book is "To Kill a Mockingbird". I love to help students of all ages improve their reading skills and use the program "Read Naturally".
I believe the reason my students are so successful because I don't just help you with the subject; I organize you physically with your materials, I teach you the vocabulary of the subject and I help you find your unique learning style. Once you know your unique learning style you can begin to study your subjects in a way that will maximize your time.
I usually tutor students in my home, but depending on the needs of the student and their family, I will travel to the student's school or home.
Looking forward to working with you! I have been a teacher for twenty years. Before I became a teacher I was a computer programmer (systems analyst). I graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Economics. After my children were born I went back to school to become a
We arrived at Stacy's house and she was all ready for us. My daughter brought her previous S.A.T's and they reviewed all the missed problems she had. Stacy's showed her different approaches to the answers with a better strategy. From what I could hear, my daughter seemed to understand and hopefully retain all this information. Unfortunately this took the entire 2 hours and I'm not they had a opportunity to discuss other specific trouble areas. But all in all we feel much better tackling the upcoming S.A.T's! Thank you Stacy!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I love the SAT especially the Math section. Most people don't know that the SAT is a reasoning test. It doesn't test our knowledge of Math but our problem solving ability. If you approach the test this way you will notice many of the problems can be solved without knowing any advanced math at all. I will show you how to put your advanced reasoning skills and logic to work for you on the math section of the SAT.
One of the components of my teacher training was doing a teaching internship in a learning support department of a K-12 school for three years. I worked under the tutelage of three highly experienced Learning Support Teachers. They gave me individual students to teach under their guidance. I discovered during my time there to look for the key to unlock the mystery of the subject for the student. For instance, in teaching one 4th grade girl to read, I discovered she loved non-fiction and could read it 100% better than fiction. Through building her reading skills with non-fiction, she was able to go on to enjoy fiction reading as well.
Since teacher training, fifteen years ago, I have taught many dyslexic students one-on-one and helped them unlock the mysteries of academics by finding their unique learning style.
I have taught students in all grades from K-12th. Because I teach math in high school I know what I want my students to know in elementary school.
I have worked with students in many schools in Sonoma County so I have knowledge of most curriculum being taught here.
I have a B.A. in Economics from UCLA.
I worked for over 10 years for accountancy corporations running their IT operations including QuickBooks.
I have used Quickbooks for over 20 years for my four personal businesses.
I am a very experienced teacher which transfers to being able to teach adults how to use complicated software.
Did you know the SAT is called the SAT Reasoning Test? Did you know that you can answer some of the questions on the SAT Math section without knowing any high school math? I teach SAT Math strategy. You probably already know math. And, if you need some help with algebra, geometry or other math, I can help you brush up on it too. I tutor all sections of the SAT. I don't run a commercial test preparation center where everyone is treated the same. I will determine your unique learning style and I will teach you to do well on the SAT using your unique learning style. I have tutored many students to reach their personal best on the SAT, so let's get started today!
