About HYO

My career in USA was 25 years of computer hardware industry. However I had an opportunity to work in Korea for three years (2012~2015). At that time, I taught foreign workers who were from China, Vietnam, various South East countries, Middle East and etc. It was through local church on Sunday afternoon as volunteer and as Korean American, I thought teaching Korean will not difficult beacuse I did my two chidren who born in U.S.A. But it was. I decided to enroll the school for 2 year course as major of " Teaching Korean to foreigner" and completed all the courses (16 subjects). Now I have returned to USA as my contract is over. I would like to utilize the knowledge that I learn and experienced.

While I taught Korean language, many foreign student are curious about the Korean cuture not only learning the language itself. It is natural since it is believed that language is part of culture. Sometimes I had to listen to their issues with their Korean employer and had to make effort to resolve it peacefully. Also took them to market, festival, post office, factory, bank, hospital and etc so that they experience in the real situaltion. It was fun and challege to all of us.

I am retired engineer who was born, educated and served for the Korean army as signal officer before I immigrated to USA. During my career, I traveled to many different countries (over 1 million flying miles) and made many foreign friends. It is a privilege to teach the Korean language as well as culture. Language is a tool that makes we love each other by better understanding each other instead of fighting for conflict by misunderstanding. I may be able to cover the Korean history, music and drama as need so that you may catch language and culture at same time.
