I have been a high school science teacher for 28 years in the Long Beach Unified School District. I have taught regular and accelerated Biology, regular and Honors Anatomy/Physiology and Forensic Science.
I enjoy helping students understand the material better and seeing the excitement on their faces when they get it and do better in a class.
I hope to help students not only do better in the class in the short run but I also hope to help students learn how to study by teaching them a variety of study techniques and become more independent.

Kristen was able to review concepts I needed before my final the next day. She went over the study guide and quizzed me on what I know/didn't know. She was helpful and very informative, as well as a friendly person in general.
Kristen gets right to work and hits the areas of greatest needs. The best part is that we have seen great results on my daughter's test scores. Thank you, Kristen.
Kristen is a great biology tutor! My son likes working with her and is getting a better understanding of the subject.
She is very patient with my daughter who asks a lot of questions! She had failed her first honors high school biology exam. With Kristen's help she got an 87% then a 98% on her next two tests!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
