As a licensed educator, I offer a unique combination of elementary, secondary, undergraduate, and graduate level instructional experience in both traditional and online settings, as well as a strong research background in the biological sciences and in education psychology. Although I currently serve as an adjunct professor for an online MEd program, I can tutor students at any grade level for a variety of subjects. Some of my work in curricular development includes creating:
- Online curricula at the university level
- Supplementary lesson plans for diverse IEP and ESL (English as a second language)
- Biology curricula at the K-12 school level, including the General Biology, AP Biology, Sheltered Biology, Zoology/Botany, and AP Environmental Science

Math and statistics are subjects I have grown increasingly passionate about due to my experience applying statistical analysis to my research. have tutored at the Calculus and Precalculus levels through Varsity Tutors for several years and helped improved my clients' grades drastically. My approach to math and statistic tutoring is exploring alternative ways to explain math concepts other than how they were taught in the classroom.

I hold a teaching credential in the biological sciences as well as a bachelor's degree in biology. Much of my graduate work consisted of extensive curricular design for STEM subjects, particularly biology, where I combined my industry experience as a behavioral ecologist with my pedagogical knowledge and curricular differentiation skills. At the undergraduate level, I took several biology upper division courses (ie: microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, marine biology, and botany) and can assist you with most of your tutoring needs within the biological sciences.

In addition to biology, I am also passionate about the computer sciences. I know JavaScript and HTML and am currently exploring a few other languages. Since I wish I had gotten into programming when I was younger, I hope to introduce many younger K-12 students to the computer sciences. There is a high demand for programmers/software engineers/web developers, making the computer sciences an area of study that can lead to a promising future career.

Feel free to contact me, as I would be happy to help your child (or you) exceed their goals and standards of achievement in whichever STEM subject for which they need guidance.

Beginning in 2014, I enrolled in a course to become a certified personal trainer and began seeing clients upon being hired at a gym. Prior to obtaining this certification, I was an intercollegiate athlete and studied nutrition as both a side hobby, and to maintain optimal health as both an athlete and a person with chronic medical conditions. I worked with my clients to provide weekly meal plans that met their macro and micronutrient needs alongside a training regimen tailored to their fitness and physique goals.

Excellent, cordial, professional, and knowledgeable

Mason is an excellent tutor who enjoys teaching and was able to explain things that my professor didn’t explain in class. I am feeling much more confident about creating functions in JavaScript and understanding how they work using the debugger, which Mason also showed me how to do. She even left me a guide to help me with my JavaScript related needs as I get through my intro course.

Patient tutor.

Mason took the time to make a google doc of what I was learning in my statistic class and I kept it as a reference so I can look back at our work. She went over problems step by step with me on what I was struggling the most like the Chebyshev’s theorem. She also stood a little over our time to help me with my upcoming test. I would likely ask for mason again for future help.
