About Kenneth

I provide tutoring services that utilize my rather unique combination of outstanding academic achievement and career successes in business, entrepreneurship and law. My specialty is providing the business, legal and financial advice and support necessary to launch new start-ups.

After graduating with a straight A average from Columbia University Law School, where I received the highest class grade in Contracts and served on the Columbia Law Review, I pursued two separate careers. First in law, I served a one-year clerkship on the Second Circuit United States Federal Court of Appeals and was an associate with a leading Wall Street law firm, Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett, where I specialized in SEC, corporate and M&A law. At the age of 29, I founded and managed a major New York law firm, which grew to over 80 attorneys. I specialized in IPO’s, financings and corporate law, including securities matters. Subsequently, I served as General Counsel and Vice president, Administrative and Legal, of Norton Simon, Inc, an international Fortune 50, $2+ billion consumer products company, where I directed all legal affairs of the company, its thirteen operating subsidiaries and its internal staff of thirty lawyers and numerous outside law firms. I was also responsible for the planning, negotiation and consummation of over $1 billion of acquisitions and divestitures.

Then in business, for over 35 years, I served as President and CEO of multiple start-ups, as well as high-growth and turn around, direct and interactive marketing and retail companies, in a wide range of consumer products and business services. I structured and executed the financial turnaround and leadership of the then largest public winery in U.S, where my visionary skills led to the development of a major premium wine brand (Rodney Strong), an important premium sparkling wine brand (Piper-Sonoma) and the most extensive direct marketing wine business in the country (Windsor Vineyards). I was the first to pioneer the interstate marketing and shipment of wine. Later I led the acquisition and development of Expressions to become a $200+ million manufacturer and retailer of home furnishings and founded a startup chain of unique tool stores. Then I conceived and developed WineSource.com, an on line marketer of hard-to-find wines, while also serving as President of FurnitureFind.com, a multi-channel marketer of home furnishings, specializing in national sales and direct delivery of furniture and home accessories.

Most recently I founded and developed the first comprehensive global marketplace that enables start-ups to use their equity as a currency to find and acquire critical resources such as talent, products, services, and funding. We are the providers of products, services, talent, and funding who are willing to take equity as full or partial payment. Together they interact with each other to create a global entrepreneurial network of ‘owners’ willing to trade in equity to boost personal and corporate success.

I am passionate, focused, highly communicative and pragmatic, characteristics which are reflective in my tutoring style.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
