To the potential students that I hope to impact and help:

Hello, my name is Kim and I am extremely excited to have this opportunity! Although I am not a certified teacher, I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others when I can. Hello, my name is Kim and I am extremely excited to have this opportunity! Although I am not a certified teacher, I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others when I can. Growing up, I was always the student in math and science that didn't have to study or put forth as much effort as some of the other students. I didn't like seeing my peers struggle, so I began to host small after school homework sessions where we could go over math and science homework. Later, I spent countless hours tutoring my four nephews in various school subjects. In college, I spent a year as a teaching assistant, which involved helping students in a forensic anthropology course with homework help, memorization, vocabulary, and overall suggestions to improve their test-taking skills. I currently work as a scientist and continue to utilize science and math on a daily basis.

When working as a tutor, I like to first determine the underlying obstacle that is holding the individual back from the success they are trying to obtain. In most cases that I have encountered, it begins with a lack of confidence. When we see something that we are not able to immediately comprehend as a weakness, we hold ourselves back from unlimited potential. My goal as a tutor is to help the student develop a sense of confidence, gratification, and success by overcoming an obstacle and instead seeing it as a challenge. I hope to have the opportunity to help you sometime in the future!

Kindest Regards,

Kim

Biology,

Biology

I received one of my undergraduate degrees in biology. From general biology to evolution (and everything in between), I have been exposed to and informed about many of the subcategories of biology. During my masters program, I also took courses in molecular biology and DNA. I have participated in volunteer tutoring sessions on numerous occasions, some of which involved biology. Biology is so interesting because it is all around us--in fact, it IS us! My goal is to help students see that and enjoy learning about living systems.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

My college degree(s) required me to take general and organic chemistry, instrumental analysis, quantitative chemistry, and other chemistry courses. My lab experience has also helped me gain additional knowledge and expertise in chemistry. I have also trained employees and subordinates on the basic principles of chemistry and good laboratory practices (GLP).
