Hi, I'm Corrie. I have an Masters in English/TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language) from San Francisco State University, a TESOL certificate, a teaching credential in ESL (English as a Second Language) for adults, and a Bachelors in Anthropology from UC Berkeley. I'm an ESL instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College (for 9 years). Before that, I taught for 5 years in community-based ESL classes in the Bay Area and logged more than 250 hours of 1:1 tutoring. It is a pleasure to facilitate my students' learning. I am very patient, encouraging, and devoted to teaching English to adults. Tutoring sessions are tailored to student needs and goals, and can be focused on conversation, assistance with outside classroom activities and homework, or to improve English for work and/or daily life. As I'm also a language learner, I understand the challenges that are faced when trying to acquire a new language, and I strive to create a learning environment that feels safe and respectful. I speak Spanish and can give instruction bilingually if desired. In addition, I can teach Spanish speakers adult literacy in Spanish.
