I am an experienced and credentialed educator specializing in Social and Religious Studies. I also have expertise in college counseling and in test preparation - especially regarding standardized tests. I have served as an educator, personal support and administrator in a variety of educational and treatment settings. I have extensive experience with and a deep compassion for at-risk and otherwise marginalized youth and understand the interface between personal and academic growth. I believe that all good education is grounded in the development of good relationships. Proficient teachers teach subjects. Great teachers teach students through understanding of each person's strengths and growth edges. Then, and only then, can focused and truly productive learning happen. If you are looking for that edge to gain acceptance to your college of choice or simply improve your current level of achievement then I am your man.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I serve as an education specialist (special education teacher) in a Middle School that serves grades 5 - 8. As a result I am quite familiar with the needs of students who are, or achieve academically at an elementary school level. Many of my middle school students achieve as would be expected of students in grades 1 - 3. Consequently, I have been come adept at using the same methodologies and teaching the same curriculum as is common in both the lower grades and in model school.

I have been a high school teacher in all humanities departments (e.g. English, Social Studies, Religion, Philosophy, Theology and Study Skills) at both private and public schools for 20 years. I have served as a middle school and high school special education teacher for 5 of those 20 years. During this time I have taught in all academic departments, and have specialized in science and mathematics. I have helped many (probably over 2000) students prepare for, and pass, a wide variety of curricular, exit and standardized exams.
