I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others. My first student was my little sister when I was ten and she was 4. Before she entered first grade, I taught her to read. I have been teaching both professionally and voluntarily for over 20 years. I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others. My first student was my little sister when I was ten and she was 4. Before she entered first grade, I taught her to read. I have been teaching both professionally and voluntarily for over 20 years. Previously, I held a California teaching credential for English, and I have had extensive training in working with English Language Learners; as well as practical classroom experience. I have worked with both adults and children, and I enjoy working with people of all ages. I love reading various types of books and subjects. Therefore, I am not limited to English Literature or English Language Arts. When I first returned to school, I focused on becoming a math major. So I can help in math up to Algebra and Trigonometry as soon as I have completed certification here. As a college student, my GPA was 3.5, and I was in the Honor Society. I don't have a photographic memory though. I had to work for those grades and honors like most people.

Having such extensive and varied experiences gives me a wide range of techniques and styles to choose from. I am convinced that different people learn differently and at different paces, but all people can learn. Marzano Research based learning strategies are still a primary resource as well as Multiple Intelligence Theory and Backwards Lesson Design. I can help tailor your learning experience like a well fitted suit, and equip you to take on practically any subject successfully!

I hope to work with you soon.

Social Studies

Studying cultures of various kinds is intriguing. Learning about different people groups, their beliefs, the types of clothing they wear, their cultural artistic expressions, and how they form governments can give one a great appreciation and understanding for who people are. Knowing how the different cultures effect each other is critical in the global society in which we live. Other than the typical social studies in grade school, I have studied Social Psychology, Anthropology, and Native American history. One of my Literature classes involved literature written by people from different cultures which gave rich perspective from those cultures. I can help you gain deeper meaning from the various Social Studies topics.

Amazing

Sarah is the sweetest, most patient woman. I feel very comfortable with her and she will really take her time to help you understand anything you have difficulty with. She has a special nurturing/friendship vibe and will be very caring towards you. She will go out of her way to meet your needs and expectations. I have met with other tutors and I would feel awkward with them and would leave our sessions dissatisfied. I have never felt that way with Sarah. I can be myself around her. Very friendly and considerate. Worth every penny!! Totally recommend!!

Great Job

Sarah did a great job editing my grammar and making suggestions on rewording some sentences making my paper sound my formal. She also highlighted my corrections. This allowed me to see and make the corrections. Sarah was fast in delivering my paper with the right corrections. Thank you!!! Sarah

Glad We Met

Sarah Z. is pleasant and easy to be around. She engages herself in the situation of the student bringing much to the needs of the student. Being a tutor who does not just work in one area requires versatility, in-sight and a range of knowledge of various scenarios. Sarah is good at "plugging in" to the task at hand while making the student feel very comfortable. She is not judgmental and never has a problem with review or finding various ways of dispensing information so that the student will "get it". Sarah is also of a lively nature so a spark of fun leaves one looking forward to future studies.

Very Positive

Sarah is a very patient and talented tutor! Sarah has been working with my son for number of weeks now and during every lesson she goes through the writing & reading materials carefully and patiently with him. Sarah also has some great reading comprehension strategies that my son's school teachers never taught him! These strategies really helped my son think more deeper about what he just read. Sarah also brings a lot of positive energy and that really helps me (as a parent) feel there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm now confident that as long as my son stays with the program his writing and reading skill will improve dramatically!
