For writing and humanities students: Whether you're a prospective college student looking to gain admission to the kinds of elite institutions where I taught, or a current undergraduate or graduate student looking to improve your writing, I'd love to work with you! Having taught writing-intensive humanities courses at elite colleges, I work closely with students to structure their arguments, interrogate their ideas, and refine their style. I am a writer myself and take real enjoyment from assisting students in expressing themselves and forming clear, compelling arguments.
For French students: I have a Ph.D. in French and a Certificate of Second Language Acquisition from Yale University. As such, I'm an expert in both French Literature and French Language Pedagogy. I taught for two years at Yale and two years at Smith College. I enjoy working with students at all levels, whether you've never spoken a word of French or need help with an essay on Balzac. As a French educator, I believe in surrounding yourself with the language as much as possible. With me as a French teacher, you'll work on all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. I use authentic materials as much as possible, so along the way, you'll learn a lot about France, French culture, and the French-speaking world!
I lived in France for two years (cumulatively) and have held fellowships at the école Normale Supérieure and Sciences Po.
I am happy to create an individualized curriculum for long-term language students, or groups of students, upon r
