I am a Summa Cum Laude recent graduate from UCSB. I currently have plans on attending medical school next year. I have worked hard throughout college, and I understand what it takes to do well in classes. I firmly believe that all subjects of science are very exciting and it only takes an enthusiastic teacher to get any student to truly appreciate them. As an undergraduate, I have worked for the Biomentors program.
Biomentors is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute funded program that offered younger science majors tutoring for prerequisite classes by qualified upperclassmen. As a tutor I was responsible to develop proper study skills and problem solving techniques which could be carried into all STEM classes. In addition, I was responsible for lecture review and clarification. This program emphasized simplified interactive learning to improve test scores and material retention. It was my job to motivate, encourage, and guide students through their challenges.
My main goal in teaching is to get students to understand the big picture of concepts which can used as a road map to delve into the more complicated specifics. To improve their understanding, I actively explain how concepts can be observed in everyday phenomenon so that students connect their classroom lectures to real life application.

I am available most days from 8am-7pm and I can travel to students so they may choose their own learning environment. Message me for more details.

Before learning from him, I felt difficulty to Organic Chemistry. He helped me organize every essential knowledge step by step. Within an hour, I could understand all concepts and solve problems. Thank you so much Brandon.
After my 11th grade daughter's first session with Brandon for physics, she said, "That went sooo well! He basically retaught me everything. I just never knew the concepts of all of the equations so he broke it down for me and now it makes sense! He was nice and patient about the things I didn't understand (of which there were many) assuring me we would work through it and we did". This was a positive and productive experience and we are certain to continue tutoring with Brandon!
Brandon not only covered the problem areas with our son, he reinforced other material and provided excellent tips for mastering the content. He is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly -- and excellent combo.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated with a Biochemistry-Molecular Biology Major where I received highest honors at UCSB. I also just completed the medical entrance exam which required me to have a strong conceptual understanding of all science subjects.
I have received 3 consecutive A+'s in my lecture classes at UCSB and 1 A+ and an A in my labs associated with those lectures. I also recently studied for the MCAT Organic chemistry subjects which I took on September 10th. I have this information very fresh in my mind. I also tutored sophomores in the subject when I was a senior in the 2015-2016 school year.
As a future medical student, I have a firm understanding of the the body how drugs alter neurotransmitter release in CNS and PNS to alter physiological state. I took the Pharmacology series at UCSB where I received 2 A+ grades.
