Skidmore College (Government)
I am a May 2016 graduate of Skidmore College in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY. While I have a degree in Political Philosophy, I am pursuing a career in Costume Design. I've worked extensively with Skidmore's Theatre Department, both performing and costuming, and proved my competence in sewing and wardrobe overseas in Dublin, Ireland. I worked with a number of professional companies including Guna Nua, Riverdance, Rough Magic and Shiva Productions. Back home, I have stage managed and costumed all over the Upstate New York region.
As for music, I have been playing the flute for 10 years and the piano for almost 20 years, and have won awards all throughout high school and college. I received top scores at the highest level of the New York State School Music Association evaluations. I am self-taught in five other instruments, and have students all over the east coast, as well as a few overseas. A few summers ago, I WOOFed in rural England and taught piano and clarinet to three students ranging from 7 to 15 years old. Thank you for checking out my profile, and I hope to meet the budding artists out there.
I tailor lessons to each student personally, based on skill level and practice time availability. I have played the flute and piano throughout high school and college, and have accompanied professional singers. I received top scores at the highest level of the NYSSSMA evaluations when I was a junior in high school. I find enabling students to share music with the world incredibly empowering and rewarding.
I have years of practical sewing and alteration experience. I learned how to sew in college, but took to it very quickly. I was a student costume supervisor throughout college, and taught many other students how to sew and read patterns. Please do not hesitate to contact me about music or sewing lessons. I look forward to creating a learning experience just for you. I am a May 2016 graduate of Skidmore College in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
