I taught English to adults from every country in the world for 30 years. I'm a published poet and I've helped many students with college essays and test prep on a private basis. My sons attended Georgetown and USC. I'm also an actress and musician but now focused on studying journalism and media. I can help you become super confident. I'm aware of the factors needed for super success. I can help any student become better and feel confident.
In addition to my degree I just finished a Shakespeare class and an American Lit class this summer to hone my own writing. So I am a lifelong learner. I am also currently studying Women in Film and editing a screenplay, as well as college essays. I have a great sense of humor and can help your work reflect who you are and teach you how to imitate the best writings as you develop a unique style, with all the commas in the right place and the spelling perfect.
I'm in Santa Monica 5 days a week although I live downtown. I can come to you if the distance isn't great or we can meet at the beautiful Santa Monica College. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In college I studied Old Testament with a great scholar. I studied Hebrew 6 months in high school because of interest. I've attended many retreats exploring the Bible over my 30 years as a member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church where I have sung in the choir and written choral music with the former director. I spent 3 years in a Mythology program at Oacifica Grad Institute where I studied many religions and Christian iconography. I continue to study but have a decades long background in exploring the Bible.
I have a BA in English Lit from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and a Lifetime Adult Teaching Credential from UCLA Extension. My two sons attended Georgetown and USC. One is in business and the other studied Theater Arts. We all love music. I'm able to prepare for tests such as SAT and help with college application essays.
Oh. I'm also a poet and writer. I spent four years in a great Graduate School program in Mythology with a Depth Psychology Focus at Pacifica Grad Institute in Carpinteria where I also co-edited the 2007 Literary Magazine with an Angel theme. I haven't finished my degree due to family illness, but I acquired wonderful knowledge and I'm up today on styles. I also passed a GRE test to apply for a different Master's program at USC, so I can help with testing. But I think it's partly about developing a love of reading and having fun writing. Confidence building is my specialty. I love boys, and I'm great friends with both my sons.
