About Robyn

Behavior & Learning Specialist
I am a behavioral therapist with over 10 years of experience teaching, motivating and building confidence in children to be successful in life. My system guarantees and tracks improvement in a very systematic approach. Proven results in home and school settings. I have an extensive educational background in behavioral problems, science, math, psychology and fitness. I have been trained in applied behavior analysis, discrete trial training, PECS And RDI with an emphasis on taking a whole child approach.

My program utilizes the latest research in brain development and memory retention. Improved results in independence, educational scores, motivation and confidence are commonly seen in as little as two weeks.

I am very compassionate, patient, energetic, and can make learning fun and rewarding. Using specialized approaches of reinforcement, children with any unique needs will benefit from a session that is not only a time of learning but a most importantly an enjoyable session in which the child is happy and excited to be there.

Thank you so much, please contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,
Robyn M.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

As a behavior therapist for 10 years, I have gained a wealth of experience teaching students with ADD/ADHD diagnoses. As a tutor, I emphasize several techniques to help students improve.

These techniques include- establishing routines, simplifying schedules, using clocks and timers to methodically build attention "muscles", and avoiding environmental distraction. Particularly when working with children, I find patience, praise, and positive reinforcement to be highly effective tools. I also can work with parents to request accommodations from schools, based on their child's ADD/ADHD identification.

One of my strengths is knowing how to pull apart complex subjects into simple ideas. I enjoy hands-on projects and individualize lessons for a successful and creative learning experience.

Most of all, I love what I do and watching a student grow. I believe parent feedback is vital to the tutoring process.

Autism

I believe my ten years as a Behavior Therapist for children with special needs has helped give me the tools to truly help my students in a positive way and assisting them achieve their goals.
Connecting with my students is very important and being their friend and mentor is what I pride myself in over the years.

My methodology involves primarily identifying where the learner has primary issues and then creating an Individualized program where scaffolding each skill set is created and identified in order for the student to easily master the concepts thoroughly.

I have had many experiences over the past 10 years with collaborative problem solving, establishing motivation and constantly having reinforcers available in order to prevent homework meltdowns.

My job as a therapist has trained me in learning the challenges that children with autism frequently face and developing new strategies utilizing positive reinforcement as well as audio and visual tools in order to increase any students' knowledge, focus, and developmental skills.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

Special Needs

I was trained at Ball State University where I obtained my Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis for children with special needs. I have worked in the field of Autism and Special Needs for the past 10 years administering specialized programs in reading, language, social skills, communication and creating my own unique motivational program to aid children in getting excited about learning. Some of the methods I commonly use are errorless learning, positive reinforcement strategies, reward systems, visual schedules and personalized visual memory aids.
