Negative numbers getting you down?
Time to tackle equations with fractions...but fractions don't function for you?
You need to graph f(x) ...but y?

Hi! I'm Laura, and I'm here to help.

I come armed with a sense of fun and several degrees (MEd. from UCSD, BS in Physics from UCSC), years of classroom teaching at the highschool level (Geometry, Algebra 1, Trig, Precalc), and hours spent volunteering with math pull-out for elementary students. We’ll defeat whatever topics are troubling...

We’ll defeat whatever topics are troubling you together!

I've used my math skills in real life, not just the classroom. Infact, I learned math to study physics, so practical applications are a primary concern for me! If you’re not sure why or when something is going to be used, feel free to ask! Ask me about the gallons per minute calculations we did when I was a volunteer firefighter, or why the light collecting power of the 200" mirror on the telescope I operated is 40,000 times greater than that of a telescope with 1” mirror. Or maybe let me tell you about that time we built a 32ft diameter geodesic dome and hauled it out to a desert.

All this is to say that math is useful.

It has worked well for me--In fact it’s still working for me right now, allowing me to be an online tutor for good pay while I also follow a call to be an author illustrator for children’s books and chase around two elementary aged children. However, getting math on your side takes hard, honest work and dedication. Let’s do it together.

We'll talk about the topics you're currently working to master as well as what options you have for shoring up areas where you need review. We'll go over what's working well for you in your studies and what strategies you can use to improve your study habits as well as your math skills.

Join me for online tutoring, and we'll get math working for you!

I care about deep understanding. I am currently focusing on Algebra 1 as I get back into the groove of tutoring online, but I have taught math courses including Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry
