Hi, my name is Isabel Folger. I graduated from Pacific Collegiate School last June, and am taking a gap year before starting at Carleton College.

I volunteer tutored math, Spanish, and English throughout high school. I currently work as a classroom aide and tutor at Kumon Math and Reading Center, where I work with kids starting in pre-school up to high school. I've worked with kids who were just learning how to read, helping them to identify sounds and sound out words. I've taught younger elementary schoolers how to count and helped them begin to learn basic math. I've worked with older elementary and middle schoolers to refine their reading, writing and math skills, and I've worked with high schoolers taking high level classes. My specialties are English and writing, but I have experience tutoring a variety of subjects.

In high school I took several honors classes and 7 AP classes: English Literature, Calculus BC, Music Theory, Spanish, U.S. History, World History, and Biology. I maintained a GPA of 3.8 unweighted at an academically rigorous college prep school, and from this experience I learned how to develop solid study skills. I took a variety of standardized tests, including the PSAT, the SAT, SAT subject tests, and AP exams, and I am well-versed in preparing for these and other important exams such as midterms and finals. Many students who know they have the ability to succeed academically are left wondering why they're struggling in school, and these students tend to benefit a lot from developing good study skills. Learning how to study, and identifying which methods of studying work best for each individual, is a skill that will aid you throughout your learning career: I help my clients learn how to organize themselves, develop strategic study plans, and study effectively, both when tutoring study skills and specific subjects.

Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, or to discuss your tutoring needs. I look forward to hearing from you!

Spanish,

Spanish

My Spanish studies began over a decade ago, and since then, my love for the language has grown exponentially. I tutored Spanish throughout high school, helping students develop their reading/writing skills as well as conversational. I believe the best way to learn a language is to search for enjoyable ways to immerse yourself in it, and I help students develop these strategies. I have taken through AP Spanish, as well as a college Spanish class.
