Montclair State University (Physics)
Hello, my name is Brian. I am a physics and mathematics undergraduate student. I have finished my course work ahead of time, and I am graduating with my B.S. in physics a semester early. I understand that mathematics and physics can be a struggle to learn. I love the application of mathematics and I enjoy helping others see how vital mathematics is. I work as a tutor and calculus teaching assistant at my university. I help students with mathematics regularly, and I am confident that I can help you or your student better understand their course work. Along with individual instruction, I like to provide advice on how to study better and ultimately help the student become an independent learner.
I usually like to evaluate where a student stands by verbally prompting them about the topic they are studying. I like to go over key concepts and procedures before asking the student to dive into a problem. I allow the student time to think and internalize a problem, and once they are stuck and ask for help, I prompt them through the problem, asking them logical questions about what they know and what the problem wants them to achieve. I finalize my tutoring sessions by briefly reviewing all the session's topics to tie everything together.
These are the mathematics courses I have taken followed by the grade I earned: Statistics (A), Algebra II (A), Precalculus (A), Calculus I (B+), Calculus II (A), Calculus III (A), Linear Algebra(B), Ordinary Differential Equations (A-), Partial Differential Equations (A), and Numerical Analysis (A-).
Please feel free to contact me and give me the opportunity to help you learn and succeed in your academic endeavors. Hello, my name is Brian. I am a physics and mathematics undergraduate student. Brian explained algebra to my son in an hour. He'd been struggling with a few concepts & after the session he told that it was all clear & Brian had made the concepts simple to understand. Highly recommend.
I had a great experience with Brian. He actually explained every line of quadratic equations and he knows what he is doing. He is amazingly patient. While I practiced some sample questions and he jumped in when I needed help with an explanation. He also plans ahead for the next session.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
