My industry career has included aerospace (such as the Apollo program), as well as designing computers and systems for companies such as Digital Equipment Corporation (now Hewlett Packard). Thus, I bring real-world experience as well as a teaching background. I believe that anyone can learn. I live within an easy commute to Silicon Valley, from lovely Santa Cruz, with my wife, Maxine, and dog, Mia,. I’m excited to be tutoring WyzAnt students!

Computer Engineering

I have led the design of several computer systems. These included the DecSystem 2020, the Wafer Scale Vax, and Two Pi's IMB mainframe compatible computer and Culler Scientific's Mini Super Computer. I was group Engineering Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation. I have been the VP of engineering of Two Pi Corporation, Culler Scientific, and Systems Industries where I was also CTO. I'm familiar with a wide variety of applications on the Mac and PC including Excel, Word, Access, AutoCad, Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, Numbers, Pages, SQL SOFA Statistical package, Audacity (A Sound Processing Package) among others. I have written programs in Fortran, Basic, Ruby, C Objective C, Swift, Javascript. I've developed several websites using HTML5, Ruby On Rails, CSS, sqlite, javascript. I have developed apps for the iPhone. I'm a regular tutor in physics and math at Wyzant.
Computer Programming,

Computer Programming

As an aerospace engineer, I programmed space flight simulations in Fortran for a number of critical NASA programs. I have written programs for the iPhone in Objective-C and Swift. I have developed a number websites using Ruby on Rails, HTML5 and JavaScript. I have also written code in COBOL, Ruby, C and BASIC. I have written code for a number of computers in assembly language. Also managed over a dozen projects with as many as 100 hardware and software engineers.
Fortran,

Fortran

I'm a highly qualified Fortran programmer. It was the first programming language I learned in graduate school. Subsequently I used Fortran in a number of projects including space flight simulations, antibalistic missle defense design, orbital decay calculations, business simulations and multi-stage rocket optimization using the method of steepest descent which became the basis for a published paper.
Macintosh,

Macintosh

I've been a Mac user since 1988. I have owned 20 Macs since then. I have written several apps for the Macintosh. I have used Macs in my business and am proficient in a variety of Microsoft and Adobe programs. I have an additional 60 apps installed on my current MacBook Air that I use frequently.
