University of Washington (Physics)
Sometimes the time you spend in a classroom is just not enough. Most of us are capable of understanding just about anything given enough time and practice. I really enjoy being able to offer my help to struggling students and it has been extremely fulfilling to see the students I have helped succeed in their classes.
I have 3 years of tutoring experience and I tutor children ages 6 and up. I specialize in mathematics (Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, etc.) and physics. I have recently graduated from the University of Washington as a Physics major and a Mathematics minor and plan to pursue my PhD.
I like to help students with completing the homework and concepts that they struggle with by working on as many examples as possible to help give familiarity to a particular subject. I aim beyond just knowing how to solve problems by helping students get an intuitive feel for the material. When working with younger students especially, I try to take some time during every lesson to build a stronger mathematics base by testing their skills on basic multiplication so that they can avoid relying on a calculator. I love to hear feedback from the student or parents. If a particular method does not work for someone, I like to know so that I can suit their needs. I don't feel comfortable charging people for something that doesn't work.
I try to be as flexible as possible with hours and location. I prefer to meet at the University because the libraries there have great spaces and private rooms can be reserved but I am willing to travel to homes or coffee shops to help accommodate a busy schedule. I am even happy to do remote lessons if traveling on a particular day may be impractical.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed! Sometimes the time you spend in a classroom is just not enough. Most of us are capable of understanding just about anything given enough time and practice. I really enjoy being able to offer my help to struggling students and it has been extremely fulfilling to see the students I have helped succeed in their classes.

Cole is doing a super job helping my son with precalculus. He's coming away from the sessions with energy, enthusiasm, and confidence in himself, and his grades have improved tremendously. So pleased with the results after only a few sessions! Two thumbs up for Cole, we highly recommend him.
I hope to give a fuller answer after further sessions with him. We are working on beginning university linear algebra for a test at this point. He likes the lesson to be presented to him, and for you to involve him in your questions. You can discuss concepts but he sees problem solving as where he needs to help the most. Bring him your tough problems. Just an anecdotal experience yours may be different.
Cole helped me with business calculus, he was able to walk me through, and let me know where I went wrong.
Cole is very patient and is very knowledgeable of physics. I've been having trouble for the longest time with physics problems and he has taught me step by step how to approach and solve the problems.
Not only Cole is knowledgeable of Algebra 2, he is also a great role model of what hard work and education can do for young people.
My daughter was struggling with Physics at school. After a few sessions with Cole, we can see the change. We are very happy to have found him.
I sent Cole questions and coursework that I needed assistance with and he took the time to look them over beforehand and do some work prior to our meeting, so we got a lot accomplished during our session. Very helpful.
Cole is a smart guy and a great physics tutor. I worked with him 4 times before my final. I had a D going in, but with Cole's help made a B+ on my final and pulled my grade up. Thanks, Cole!
Cole has been amazing to work with. For my 7th grade daughter struggling with algebra, he brings passion and patience to their tutoring sessions. He keeps things interesting for my daughter, talks through concepts in a way that makes sense to her, and he has an infectious enthusiasm for algebra that comes across during his sessions. He uses multiple methods to teach a concept. As a parent and schedule keeper, he's flexible, responsive, and always on time!
Cole has really connected with our son and has helped him understand difficult geometry concepts. We've already recommended him to others.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
When obtaining my associate of science at North Idaho College, I took linear algebra and obtained high grades. After taking three years off of school, I retook the class as a refesher course and again obtained good grades. The material covered in linear algebra is also covered extensively in many of the classes I have taken since such as Elementary Mathematical Physics, Particles and Symmetry, as well as Quantum Mechanics.
