University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (Mathematics)
I offer tutoring in middle school, high school, and college level mathematics.
I've grown up enjoying and excelling at mathematics. Within my family, we always thought math was fun. I feel that positive relationship to mathematics was of great benefit to me. It inspired me to go beyond what I was learning in grade school and pursue more advanced math courses. I had the confidence that I could rise to the challenge. In middle school and high school, I took advanced mathematics courses at our local college (what a treat!). I took my first semester of calculus when I was in the 9th grade. I went on to graduate with highest honors with a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Because of my love of mathematics, I've always enjoyed teaching mathematics to others. So many children grow up with the idea that math is boring and/or too difficult. In college, I found that many people avoided certain degree programs because of mathematics course requirements. They were intimidated. With the proper support and encouragement, children and adults can experience success and enjoyment with mathematics. I offer tutoring in middle school, high school, and college level mathematics.

Kristie is personable and extremely helpful-she works to identify what areas your student needs to improve and then works to help explain the concepts.
Kristie K is an excellent algebra tutor, she is patient and soft spoken when explaining procedures. Kristie works with me on my pace until I understand how to work a problem. It has been a pleasure working with Kristie and recommend her to anyone who needs that extra help. Thank you Kristie for your continued support and encouragement.
My son has been working with Kristie for a couple months. In that time he has gone from a D in Algebra to an A. He has stopped being fearful of new concepts. He knows that he has a partner in figuring it all out. We call her our *secret weapon*.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
