Hello students and parents,
My name is Marla and I am presently employed as a Substitute Teacher at all three elementary school districts in Santa Clarita, California. I have been involved in teaching for the past 5 years. Prior to that, I spent over 15 years as a stand-in on motion pictures and television shows. Part of the responsibility I held was to help children learn their dialogue so as to make their part on the show more believable and realistic.
I am very proud, however, to now be a part of the educational system. The education of our children, is to me, the most important thing we can do to benefit society as well as our future. I believe that teaching is an investment necessary to secure that future.
While in college, I majored in English, concentrating in Writing, with a minor in Speech and Theater. In the past, I held the position of Proofreader for one of the most prestigious law firms in New York City, where I attended college. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Brooklyn College, which is part of the City University of New York.
I love to write and I love to teach. I am also presently listed with a local tutoring company in the Santa Clarita area where I mostly tutor Language Arts. That too, has been very successful. In addition, with the onset of educational programs called "Toastmasters", I can also help with writing speeches and assist with the verbal delivery of the speech itself. Moreover, I am quite knowledgeable about American History and am able to assist in that area if needed.
I know you will be satisfied, should you choose me as your tutor.
Thank you again. Have a wonderful day. Hello students and parents,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
