Many students feel that there is never enough time to fully understand math or science. Courses move on too fast and new material keeps piling on. I have first-hand experience that this does NOT have to be the case.

Over the past 7 years, I have taught, tutored, and developed resources for hundreds of students at dozens of different schools in San Francisco - CA, Irvine - CA, Austin - TX, Prosperity - SC, Hollywood - FL, St. Louis - MO, and New York - NY. My experience is that, given the right guidance, students CAN find the time to explore the basics. Understanding the fundamentals allows students to start learning independently from teachers or textbooks.

My success in helping students led me to work with a fantastic team of teachers and school leaders at Guidepost Montessori and at Academy of Thought and Industry. I am proud to have contributed to the development of innovative programs across the country. My PhD research and scientific publication has made me comfortable with science and math content areas at all levels--from elementary school to college.

If we work together, I would be happy to first suggest techniques that would allow you to make quick progress. This can take from 1 session to up to 3 sessions. But as we work together, my guidance would be aimed at leading you up a path to become an independent learner. It all pays off when you see yourself grasping math and science concepts that make a real difference in your own life!

I have a unique approach to teaching. To give you an example, let us take a speed problem of the type everyone learns in their elementary math class, such as:

"If Jill covered 6 miles in 2 hours, what was her speed? It is not hard to find a student who asks: Is speed distance divided by time, or is it time divided by distance?"

Sounds familiar? Now imagine if before you were taught the correct formula for speed, I instead tell you the following story:

"There was a girl named Jill who lived in the countryside in the State of Kansas. All around Jill's house was miles and

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra 1 concepts to students for 4+ years. I was trained to use Algebra tiles by the well-known Algebra teacher Mike Waski, and I have also developed my own math techniques and lessons. My PhD background and research on mathematical models makes me very comfortable with the subject matter. My tutoring approach is to first get you up to speed on your coursework, but ultimately to guide you in becoming an independent learner.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have taught High School level courses at a private school for 4+ years. I was trained to use Algebra tiles by the well-known Algebra teacher Mike Waski and used them with my Algebra 2 students. I have also developed my own math techniques and lessons. My PhD background and research on mathematical models make me very comfortable with the subject matter. My approach is to first get you up to speed on your coursework, but ultimately to guide you in becoming an independent learner.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have taught Geometry for 4+ years at a private school in Orange County. Over this time, I also developed my own geometry lessons and materials. My PhD background on mathematical models makes me very comfortable with math. I am now writing a geometry exercise book for students that they can use with my geometry lessons. The lessons that I have created have been used and tested by over 10 advanced students of math. My tutoring approach is to first get you up to speed on your coursework, but ultimately to guide you in becoming an independent learner.

Patient and helpful

My son finds his lessons with Atul to be helpful not just towards his math studies, but towards overall general knowledge and study habits. He is appreciative of his weekly visits! Thanks!

Great Fit

Atul was able to help Jordan with his math and I see they have a good relationship. Jordan is understanding concepts much clearer now.

Steve, 4 lessons with Atul

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Atul is well organized. We jumped right into the problem from the start and throughout the work would always ask if I was ok to move on with it. At the end of the session he made an outline of what we did which was very helpful.
