There is a plethora of experienced tutors available to you, but here are some of the things that set me apart:
*Perfect SAT/SAT II scores - In addition to a 2400 SAT, I have scored an 800 GRE and a 780 GMAT.
*Extraordinary track record - The vast majority of my students see unusually high results. My students frequently go from producing C, D, or F material to B or A material within the first couple weeks. My long time SAT students average between 300 and 400 points improvement in their scores; The most improved student went from a 1480 to a 2160 (680 point improvement) and my highest scoring student earned a 2350.
*Relate well to all types of students. - Some students don't respond well to tutoring because they can't relate to the tutor. A person of many interests, I have taught all ages and many different personalities and always get great results. In particular, I have had better success than most of my counterparts for many "jock" students who don't relate to a brains-only, "nerd" type of tutor.
*Easy going and positive. - Keeping a student motivated and positive is a huge part of getting good results for that student. I am able to keep a student's spirits up even when they're struggling so that they can continue to improve and get over any temporary obstacles.
*Well qualified and current. - I take my reputation as a top tutor seriously, and as such I take steps to ensure that I stay up-to-date with new trends in academics and standardized tests. I take the SAT every year, and have scored a perfect 2400 on it eight out of the last ten times. I keep up to date with popular scientific theories, read all of the novels assigned to my students that I haven't previously read, and even study new languages every year to help improve communication with my ESL students.
A little about myself -
Tutoring has been by far the most enjoyable and rewarding job I've ever had. I began my tutoring experience at 15 when I was hired to teach in my High School's tutoring center and have continued teaching ever since.
I went to UCSB straight out of high school on a full scholarship but was forced to withdraw when I was diagnosed with cancer and decided to return to my home-town for treatment. I spent a few years doing other things (music, web design, MMA) but decided to return to college after getting married. My wife and I are both back in school and should be completing our respective bachelor's degrees in two years. I love music, sports, games, fitness, and a billion other things. If you think I may be a fit as a tutor for you or your child, I'll look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your academic goals. Shawn was a wonderful tutor. He is very knowledgeable in all areas, and was a tremendous asset to our son's successes with the SAT test! Shawn was the perfect person to tutor our son, not only was he capable of simplifying ares of struggle for him, but he helped him to find strategies to accomplish difficult areas, plan, and have confidence in his abilities. Shawn was also very friendly and "cool". My son actually enjoyed the time spent with Shawn. Thank you!
I am only at the beginning of being tutored by Shawn and I am already very impressed with his knowledge, his teaching capabilities but mostly his patience. I was worried from being out of school for so long that no one would be able to re-teach the concepts to me but Shawn is proving me wrong and has set my mind at ease with learning all that there is to know for the GRE. I am extremely glad I chose him as my tutor.
Sean is very knowledgeable in programming. He answered all my questions and explained why some of my codes worked/didn't work and I was able to avoid duplicating my mistakes when I coded on my own.
Shawn is very methodical during his tutoring sessions. His method of teaching is very effective in targeting my son's needs and pace. At the end of the session, my son is confident with the new skills he learned from Shawn. My son enjoys his math sessions with Shawn because they are fun and challenging at the same time.
Shawn has been tutoring my daughter for a couple of months now, and he has really made a difference for her. Pre-Calculus is not an easy subject for her and she needs a lot of guidance. Shawn is super capable of explaining things in a way she can understand and he gets to the heart of the matter pretty quickly.
My son has regained his confidence in Physics due to Shawn's excellent directing and tutoring. Shawn is patient and makes his lessons enjoyable.
Shawn is an excellent tutor. I would use or recommend him again and again. My daughter needed help preparing for a pre-calculus test. We didn't have much time. Shawn helped her with exactly what she needed to know.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Having tutored Calculus students for over 10 years with great success, I am well qualified to teach or tutor the material. I have helped many students go from failing to excelling in their Calculus classes, and seen most of them receive 4s and 5s on their AP tests. I am still pursuing my first Bachelor's but have taken all standard math classes up through Calculus III (Vector Calculus) and several other odds and ends such as Discrete Math and Linear.
My qualifications come from both education and experience. I have done professional programming for over ten years, having begun programming over twenty years ago. I have developed numerous stand-alone applications as well as front and back-end web development, and even computer games. Additionally, I earned A's in all of my college programming classes including Fundamentals, Data Structures, Java, C++, Assembly Language and others, and was selected two years in a row for my college's 3-person programming team for the ACU collegiate computer programming competition at which we came in 11th and 14th in the nation.
