I have been a high school English, ESL and Spanish teacher for seventeen years. I spent most of my time in California, then taught in Uganda, East Africa for three years, two in New Mexico and now I live back in California. I hold a master's degree in English literature, a TESOL, a BA in International Relations with a minor in Spanish, and a teaching credential for both New Mexico and California.
I am known for being relaxed with students and have a fun rapport, yet I push them to be their best at the same time.

I have asked Aura to help my 12 year old son to become confident in English, which is his third language. In four days, Aura has been able to teach him new words and verbs, revise what he knew, giving him the pleasure of the correct pronunciation.
Aura is an excellent teacher, patient, attentive, very easy to reach by e-mail. No doubts, I will surely recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a TESOL certificate and I have taught ESL for several years at the beginning and intermediate levels.
I taught beginning and intermediate Spanish at the high school level for three years. I took three years of Spanish in high school and I took four Spanish classes in university. I have spent entire summers in Honduras, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Spain in an effort to use and improve my own Spanish. I understand the process of learning a foreign language which makes me a stronger teacher.
