Through out my life I have overcome a series of obstacles, which have left in me a great amount of lessons, but the greatest lesson I have learned is not to give up and fight until the end. These obstacles have allowed me to accomplish the goals I had intended to accomplish. Today I am completing a Master’s Degree in Spanish and I have had the privileged to teach Spanish to non-native speakers at San Diego State University.
As a teaching associate I have shared my knowledge, but at the same time I have learned that, a student is more than a final grade, the student is a human being with doubts and a great amount of potential that with guidance can prosper. These past two years, I have not only done my job as a teaching associate, but I have been a guide, a coach, and a counselor. By sharing the classroom with the students I have learned to understand their worries and necessities inside the academic system. I have a vast knowledge in the methodology of teaching a foreign language due to the professional development workshops I have attended. I have also gained knowledge about the administrative system since my teaching coordinator was also the Spanish department academic advisor
I am currently available Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. You can also contact me and we can arrange a time to meet. My base rate is $45 an hour, but we can work things out. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
