About Alan

In fourth grade, I received the opportunity to tutor one of my peers who was struggling with math. At the time, I was inexperienced, but eventually helped him improve. Seeing his excitement after finally understanding a problem and appreciation for my assistance helped me realize that I enjoyed helping others fulfill their full potential and giving the best of themselves. From that moment on I began tutoring several of my cousins and children of family friends mainly in math. As time progressed and I acquired more tutoring experience, I began helping students with Spanish, English, and other subjects. As a tutor, I dedicate myself 100% to implement an instruction method that adapts to the student's needs and learning abilities. I will continually work my hardest in order for the student to meet all of his objectives and improve academically.

I am a native Spanish speaker and was enrolled in academic institutions with dual immersion programs from elementary all the way to high school. This constant exposure to the language both at home and in school has perfected my reading, speaking, and writing skills. Additionally, I was awarded the California Seal of Biliteracy, passed both AP Spanish exams with a 5, and was awarded second place for the Escribo en Español literary competition, a statewide essay writing contest. I have previously assisted students of all levels; those who required support in learning Spanish as a second language and others who looked to pass both AP Spanish exams. My curriculum for those unfamiliar with the language strongly enforces a comfortable and nurturing environment in order to increase their confidence and be able to get the most out of every session. On the other hand, my curriculum is more rigorous for advanced students, giving them exposure to foreign literature and different styles of writing.

Feel free to contact me if you want to schedule a session or have any concerns. I am available most of the time and will reply as quickly as I can. I look forward to working with you and helping you accomplish all of your academic goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
