About Margaret Mary

I have been a math teacher for some 30 years, in the high school and college level. My tutoring experience began when I was approached by parent who wanted to give her children extra support in mathematics. I usually tutored high school students. I had students from different school settings -- private schools and public schools.

When I taught in college, I had to set time for students to see me for consultation, which meant being open for students to make further inquiries or clarifications outside the classroom time. Consultation hours were also part of the time that I put in on a weekly basis. Although students don't take an hour to see me, I was flexible whenever there were students who needed me beyond the time.

Since I started tutoring, I was always approached by parents who wanted to strengthened their children's foundations in mathematics, whatever the math course was. Hence, I felt that it was important that the student showed improvement. If the student is already doing well but then the parent wanted the student to be continually monitored, I also took that into consideration.

As a math tutor, I always see to it that the student understands the concept through my exercises and discussions. Generally, my students have assigned work. I would go through the concepts and follow-up which additional exercises.

For those who want to understand mathematics -- as outlined in their curriculum, beyond the classroom setting, I encourage you to schedule a session with me. Let's journey together in understanding math. I believe that a good mathematics foundation equips one with skills that enables him/ her to face life's challenges.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Linear Algebra

I used to teach this course in the college level. However, in the high school curriculum of Algebra 2, I had to incorporate concepts of Linear Algebra. Thus, I had taught matrices and solving linear equations using matrices.
