I'm a citizen of the UK. For many years I've volunteered in SE Asia as both a healthcare provider and a casual English teacher. In 2015 I graduated from the Cambridge University CELTA programme where I learned how to teach ESL more effectively.
During the last two and a half years, I've taught adults in the classroom setting in England and in the USA. In Cambodia, I've been teaching young adults and children in less formal settings. Travel to many countries has enabled me to embrace diverse cultures and learn at least the basics of several European languages as well as Khmer.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I'm a Cambridge University CELTA graduate with post graduation classroom experience teaching multinational students. The student ages ranged from 16 -65 years and they represented more than 20 countries around the world. Most of the classrooms were equipped with interactive white boards, overhead projectors and video and audio systems, but not all. More recently I returned from SE Asia where I was responsible for for holding informal one-on-one, or small group sessions, with working adults in the provinces who wished to learn English for commercial reasons.
The EU has a system of mobility enabling qualified professionals to work in member countries providing they pass the language proficiency assessment. I've worked with various healthcare and business professionals coming into the UK who lacked sufficient fluency to pass the TOEFL. My experience in test preparation specifically has not been extensive, but as it involves the standard sections of speaking, listening, reading and writing covered by the CELTA training, it's a straight forward process for an ESL teacher.
I was born and educated in England. Reading was an essential part of that process as was the exposure to a rich culture of history, literature, poetry, theatre, art, music lessons, classical ballet dance training and much more. One's vocabulary is influenced by the life one leads. Living a life of diversity connects the individual to the distinct vocabularies that emerge from such diversification. I believe this qualifies me to address the tutoring of most students in their vocabulary needs.
