About Alex

I am currently a college sophomore studying to be a Spanish major and eventually I want to become a Spanish teacher. All through high school I took advanced Spanish classes and as a junior I took the highest class level that my school offered and I passed the Spanish 4 AP exam. When I started college I was placed in advanced Spanish classes and I pass every one with a high A. Also, this past summer I studied abroad in Spain. It was such an amazing experience. It really expanded my knowledge for Spanish and the culture, which is such a big part of the language.

In my last year of high school, I was a Spanish teacher's aide and I assisted students with their homework assignments and projects. When they turned essays, homework, and tests in, I would grade them and then go over anything that they still had a problem with. I loved doing that because I felt like I was making an impact on their learning and that's what I want to do one day as a teacher. I love helping students finally understand a difficult concept and taking that stress of doing it alone away from them.

Being a Spanish major, I understand the material very well and I am more than capable to explain it to a student who might be struggling. I think that since I am still a student I can bond more with other students because I know what they are going through and will be able to talk them through it and see their problems through their perspective. I also tutored a student over the summer and I found that to be really inspiring and I would love to continue helping people.

I hope to be a help to any students who might need it. I am really excited to get to know more people and guide them to success in their classes and their school career overall.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
