Hello my name is Mayte! It is pronounced (my-tay) but you can also call me Tea. I am currently studying to become a Preschool Teacher. Then I want to transfer and continue my studies to become a bilingual teacher. My goal is to teach elementary both here in America and Mexico. I love painting, reading, and hiking. I love reading just about anything, I find interesting from Harry Potter to Man's Search For Meaning. I like hiking and enjoying the view with friends. I graduated high school when I was seventeen and since then haven't stopped working or going to school. Although, I do make time to travel at least once a year. I always go to Mexico where my parents are from, to visit the rest of my family, and appreciate where I come from.
My current experience includes tutoring pre-k through elementary school students while working with a private program. I have worked with the private program for almost three years. I teach the alphabet, phonics, sequence of numbers, addition and subtraction. I teach all the basic skills they need to do for math and reading until they become independent. I also help with writing skills to improve writing. When I first started tutoring students it would be at a library or my house. I would assist with help for homework, organization, and or projects. Today I tutor elementary students and adults in college. With adults in college I mostly tutor those who need assistance and difficulty in writing essays or staying organized or committed for a class. I help to keep them on track and finish their college course with less stress.
I like seeing the light bulb turn on. I like it when students feel confident about the material and excited about learning. I like seeing concepts click. I enjoy helping other students succeed. I love helping others feel confident in themselves as students. I love that I can positively affect a student's life, even in a small way. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your education! Hello my name is Mayte! It is pronounced (my-tay) but you can also call me Tea. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
