I am currently going into my third year in college. I have been working with a tutoring program at college for three years now. I have worked with students from K-12 grade. I have tutored students in Math, Science, English, History, and ELA. I have helped high school students better their reading and writing abilities. I am have also tutored students during summer school to help them stay on top of their game and not fall behind once they go back to school. Something that I love about tutoring is that I get the chance to work one on one with the student. I feel that in this way the student is getting better assessed rather than been left out which is something that can happen in a big classroom. The student also gets the chance to meet the tutor on a more personal level which leads to the student feeling more comfortable with the tutor. At the end of the day it is a great feeling to know that the tutor and the student have achieved their goals wether it be becoming a better reader or writer and or attaining good problem solving skills.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
