I recently moved back to CA from DC where I taught 9th and 10th grade math the past 7 years. I love teaching high school and miss my students a lot--but my family is all on the west coast, so it was time to come back. I love teaching--especially middle and high school students--and find it so rewarding when I can help a student overcome something they have been struggling with.
If you need help with any of the subjects I've listed, I'm your lady! I'm easy going, and definitely have the content knowledge to help you bring your grades up and understand the content better--if you hate math, I'll help you love it (or at least not hate it so much anymore). Hilary tutored my daughter in Geometry. She was extremely patient with her explanations and helped my daughter produce the answers herself. After the 1st lesson, my daughter felt more confident!
She helped me understand how to put things in the right order and help me fix my mistakes and showed me the right way to do it
Great job teaching my son all of the things he is struggling with in Math. I know he feels more confident now.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
